More than 7.5 million guests and some 40 million overnight stops were registered in 1999, total number of beds 350,000. With an average of 60 overnight stops by guests per inhabitant, the Tirol is touristically the most intensive federal province in Austria (in fact, it is one of the most intensive tourist regions in the world), covering approx. 34% of tourist demands. The majority of guests come from Germany (60.7%), Holland (10.2%), Austria (7.6%), Great Britain (3.7%), Switzerland (3.6%) and Belgium (3.4%).
